He’s my wishes on the North Star and my dreams are filled with him and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I love spending time in his arms and the way his eyes light up when he gets excited or happy.
And you know what the best part is?

Sometimes, his eyes light up when they look at me. And it’s electrifying. And scary.
What if I do something to make that go away?
What if I screw up, like my parents did? I don’t want that, not with him. He’s too important, too loved.

I love being his princess and his love and I love being able to call him baby and love and being honest with him. It’s refreshing and he’s so worth the butterflies and the heart pounding and the nervous tummy feelings.

I really, really love him. It’s so scary you guys. But it’s so much sweeter and meaningful that way.

i don’t feel special. i don’t feel older, wiser, anything of that nature.

what i feel is the urgent need to color in my princess coloring book with my 29 cent Crayola crayons.

i’m approaching a pinnacle of our society - my 18th birthday is very close. but… i feel no different. i feel no need to invest in stocks, or make such a crucial decision about who to vote for in the coming election. true, i’m experiencing new sensations and situations each day, and i feel light years above the intelligence level of some of my peers, but… i’m still a kid.

i still like s’mores and puppies, and hula hoops and washable markers. i’m afraid to go to college and choose a career that makes me miserable. what if i make no money? what if i can’t stand my job?

i don’t want a midlife crisis. but life keeps trucking on, grains of my time slipping through my fingers like sand in an hourglass.

i guess… i guess growing up isn’t so bad. i get to choose who i want in my life, and for how long. and i finally found a drink i like at Starbucks [i know, whaaaaat?]. so i guess i’ll just make a lion out of my Play Doh until then.
